Most garden offices don’t require Planning Permission as they are considered outbuildings, but they must comply with Permitted Development rules, which vary based on property type and location. You may not have Permitted Development rights if your home is a flat or maisonette, in which case full Planning Permission is required. If your home is a Listed Building, you will need Listed Building Consent. Additionally, if you live in a designated area such as a Conservation Area, National Park, Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), or World Heritage Site, stricter rules apply.
